# Turn a URL into a demo video

Give Demofy a URL and a sentence about what to show. An AI plans the clicks, a real browser films them, then zooms and narration are added. No signup.

**Turning a URL into a demo video means giving a tool a web address and one sentence about what to show, and getting back a finished walkthrough without recording anything yourself. Demofy makes this kind of automated product demo video: an AI model plans the clicks, a real browser performs them in your live product while it is filmed, and a renderer adds camera zooms, a cursor, narration and captions.**

## How it works

1. 1Paste a URL and one line of intent. “Show how a new user creates their first invoice” is enough. Point the URL at the screen the flow starts on. No account is needed to start.
2. 2An AI model plans the clicks. It reads the page’s interactive elements and writes the demo as a list of steps, each with its narration line. The plan is saved, so a later re-render replays it rather than planning again.
3. 3A real browser is filmed doing them. The steps are performed in your actual product, not a mock-up. Then the renderer adds camera zooms that follow each action, a cursor that glides between them, narration and captions.

[Your first demo](https://demofy.io/docs/your-first-demo) walks through it screen by screen, and the [ai product demo maker and video generator](https://demofy.io/product-demo-video-generator) page puts it beside a screen recorder and an avatar video.

## Which URLs work

**Any page that loads for a stranger.** Demofy opens the address in a real browser with no cookie and no history, and explores forward from there. Point it at the screen the flow starts on rather than a marketing home page, and name an end state in the sentence — the [URL and intent guide](https://demofy.io/docs/url-and-intent) has the phrasing that works.

**Pages behind a sign-in.** Save a browser session once as a connection, either by signing in through a hosted live browser or by registering a session you exported, and attach it when you make the demo. The steps are in [recording behind a login](https://demofy.io/docs/recording-behind-a-login), and [how a saved login is stored](https://demofy.io/docs/saved-session-privacy) says what is kept.

## Where it falls short

- It films web pages only. Whatever a browser can open works; desktop software and native phone apps do not. Nothing is recorded from your own screen.
- Some pages block automated browsers. A bot challenge is retried once through a different exit address, and a site that still refuses can end the job. A captcha on a sign-in is the usual wall; passing it yourself in the live browser, once, is the way round.
- It films what the page actually does. A slow page, an empty account or a broken screen appears in the video as it was. A re-shoot happens when you ask for one, or when a capture breaks on an element that has moved — nothing is re-filmed on a timer.
- The AI chooses the clicks. The sentence steers it but does not guarantee the path you pictured. The [script editor](https://demofy.io/docs/step-editor) lets you retype a line, hide a step or change the camera, and the video is filmed again from the edited plan.
- The output is a video, not an interactive tour. If a viewer needs to click through the product themselves, this is the wrong shape of tool; the [list of what Demofy does not do](https://demofy.io/docs/what-demofy-is) is the honest version.

## Questions people ask

### How do I turn a URL into a demo video?

Paste the address of the page where the demo should start into the box on this page, add one sentence about what it should show, and press Create demo. Typically 10–20 minutes later there is a finished video. The build log shows each step as it happens.

### Does the URL have to be a public page?

No. A page that loads for a stranger works with nothing else. For a signed-in app, save a browser session once as a connection, either by signing in through a hosted live browser or by registering a session you exported yourself, and attach it when you make the demo.

### Do I need to record my screen or write a script?

No. Demofy plans the steps and writes a line of narration for each from the page itself. Afterwards you can change the steps and the narration in the script editor, and the video is filmed again from the edited plan.

### What if the page blocks automated browsers?

If a page answers a bot challenge, Demofy retries once through a different exit address. A site that still refuses can end the job, and the job page says why. Signing in through the hosted live browser yourself gets past captchas and two-factor codes, because a person is driving it.

### Is the video of my real product?

Yes. The clicks and typing happen in your live product in a real browser and every step is recorded as it happens, so the video shows the page doing what it does. It is a video file, not a clickable copy of your product.

### What do I get, and is it free?

A video file you can download, share by link or embed on your site, in desktop and mobile formats. You can make a finished 1920 × 1080 video with no account and no card. Pro is US$29 a month, or US$290 a year — 2 months free.
