Demofy vs Synthesia
Synthesia makes an AI-avatar video from a script, priced in credits. Demofy films your web app from its URL, no script or presenter. Where Synthesia wins.
What each one is
- Synthesia
- Synthesia turns a written script into a video presented by an AI avatar, with voiceovers in more than 140 languages.
- Demofy
- Demofy needs no script and no presenter: it films your web app being used, from its URL and one sentence, and narrates each step over the footage.

What Demofy costs
Pro is US$29 a month, or US$290 a year — 2 months free. It is per workspace rather than per seat, so the fifth person on the team costs what the first one did. Everything below Pro is free, forever — a guest makes a finished 1920 × 1080 video with no account and no card, and it is a file you can download, share and embed. A free render closes on a small “Made with Demofy” card, which is one of the things Pro takes off. The full plan table is on the pricing page.
Where Synthesia is the better answer
- A presenter on screen: an AI avatar reads your script, from a stock cast of more than a hundred, with personal avatars of yourself from Starter up.
- Voiceovers in 140+ languages on every plan, and AI dubbing that translates an uploaded file or a YouTube link into another language.
- It makes a video about anything you can write a script for — a training module or an explainer — and its URL-to-video tool turns an article or a web page into one too.
- Roleplays a learner can play through a public link, an embed or SCORM, and an API on Pro for making videos from code.
Where Demofy is the better answer
- Demofy operates the product itself: from its URL and one sentence it plans the clicks, performs them in a real browser and films the result, with nothing for you to write or record.
- The footage is your actual interface in use, with zooms that follow each click and a cursor drawn over it, so a viewer sees the product rather than a description of it.
- Video length is not metered. The cap is how many demos you start in a rolling day, and a job that fails is not counted.
- A flow behind a sign-in is filmed too: sign in once in a live browser, two-factor included, and later demos reuse that saved session on every plan.
The part that does not flatter us
Synthesia does what Demofy does not attempt: a presenter on screen, narration in 140+ languages and a video about any subject you can script. Its Starter plan costs what Demofy Pro costs month to month and less billed yearly. If the video needs a face or several languages, Synthesia is the better buy.
Which to pick
These two are often weighed for the same brief, "an AI video of our product", and they answer it differently. Choose Synthesia when the video is a presenter explaining something. Choose Demofy when the video should be the product itself, filmed from its URL and re-shot from the stored plan whenever you ask.
Neither table settles it. Paste your own URL below and see what comes back — a guest needs no account and no card.
